StayTray is an AI-based assistive plate stabilizer that prevents foods and drinks from spilling in moving vehicles. A cupholder or a passive gimbal only holds its contents level with the ground, which does nothing the moment a car brakes or turns and the drink lurches forward. Our platform feels forces such as braking, cornering, rough road, and tilts the plate to meet them, so a full cup or an open container of food stays still instead of sliding or spilling. Initially, the car is where we will prove the concept, but the same idea steadies a tray on a boat, in an RV, or in an airplane. We are building a surface that stays stable while everything around it moves.
Our initial target market includes people who actively eat and drink in cars. This includes commuters, families with children, and individuals with limited mobility to typically eat or transport meals in moving vehicles. These consumers value convenience, cleanliness, and safety, trying to balance meals during busy schedules but often being overcome by spills, damaged food, and distracted driving. Most of them likely already have tried a $20 spill-proof cup holder, watched it dump coffee on the first sharp turn, and left it in the trunk. As a result, they constantly have to be wary. Our goal is to take that job of having a sip saved for the next red light, the food held over a napkin, the soup left at the counter off their backs. Our target market seeks practical products that simplify everyday routines without requiring extra effort or diverted attention. The StayTray allows them to safely and cleanly do what the whole point of eating in a moving vehicle in the first place is: get their time back.
