Inspiration
The inspiration for StayEase came from the frustration of seeing one price online and a much higher price at checkout due to hidden taxes and resort fees. We wanted to create a travel booking experience that is fully transparent from the first search—what you see is truly what you pay.
What it does
StayEase is a hotel search and booking platform that allows users to search, compare, and book hotels worldwide. The core value proposition is transparent pricing (all prices include taxes and fees upfront) and flexible booking (highlighting options with free cancellation so users can book with confidence).
How we built it
We built the front-end interface using a responsive web framework to ensure the search and filter experience ("Easy Search") works seamlessly on mobile and desktop. The design focuses on a clean card-based layout for popular destinations and clear visual indicators for pricing and cancellation policies.
Challenges we ran into
Real-Time Rate Aggregation: Integrating with hotel APIs to pull accurate, all-inclusive rates rather than base rates was technically complex.
Dynamic Fee Calculation: Ensuring the "Transparent Pricing" promise held true across different regions with varying local tax laws required building a robust backend calculation engine.
UI Simplicity: Balancing the need to display "advanced search and filter options" without cluttering the main "Find Your Perfect Stay" interface was a design challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
No Hidden Fees Guarantee: Successfully implementing the logic to ensure the price shown on the card is exactly the final price.
Clean Interface: Creating a modern, ad-light user experience that prioritizes the "Popular Destinations" grid and quick scanning of amenities.
Successful Deployment: Getting the live MVP up and running at the current AppMedo domain.
What we learned
We learned that users value trust signals (like the "Free Cancellation" badge) just as much as they value a low price. We also learned that performance optimization is critical when pulling live inventory for "Hotels Worldwide."
What's next for StayEase
User Accounts & Trips: Allow users to save favorite searches and track their upcoming bookings in a dashboard.
Map View Integration: Add an interactive map view alongside the current list/grid view of destinations.
Review Aggregation: Integrate verified guest reviews to help users make more informed decisions beyond just price and location.
Mobile App: Develop a native mobile application based on this web prototype.
