Inspiration

**Note, right now, I (Kavin) can't contact any of my group members and I have received no code from any of them. As a result, many of the core features are nonfunctioning. All will be explained through the course of the document.

  • This was inspired by games like pokemon go, which allows users to see where others are on the map. This uses that function to help people social distance more effectively.

What it does

This project should provide a map that shows the positions of all users and estimates of the number of people in various buildings using CCTV feeds and machine learning. This data would be relayed via MongoDB and displayed on a website. However, because the backend work was left to the other two, the site currently reads from a .json file and displays that data. There are also no machine learning elements in this project anymore or radar.io elements. I will try to get Webhosting done before 12, but it is currently 10 and I haven't started on that, so you may find yourself with a series of files.

How I built it

I used HTML, CSS, and Javascript, along with the google maps API and Uber's Deck.Gl to visualize the given data on a map.

Challenges I ran into

I had never used an API before, so I had to learn how to do so. I have also never used either the google maps API or Deck.Gl before, so I had to learn how to do that as well.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud that I persisted through all the trials and tribulations this project entailed, and that I learned to use a variety of interesting new tools in the process.

What I learned

how to use Deck.Gl, and the Google-maps-API

What's next for StayAway

Actually connecting it to a server, and getting user data to it. Also possible machine learning estimates.

Notes

my discord name is Zetyz#6009 The video is with the folder I can't buy a domain, as I don't have a credit card (highschooler with parents out of town) so I can't host the website. I tried 000webhost.com, but it repeatedly froze my computer, so I decided to cut my losses and send the code via google drive. Sorry about any inconvenience. The video will be more than enough to understand how the site works.
