Inspiration
The inspiration behind Stay Safe Madison stemmed from the increasing need for a proactive approach to address safety concerns within the community. Recognizing the importance of utilizing recent crime reports, our team sought to develop a tool that empowers residents to make informed decisions about their safety based on real-time data.
What it does
Stay Safe Madison is a comprehensive platform that utilizes recent crime reports to categorize different areas of Madison into zones - green, yellow, and red. These zones indicate the level of safety within each area, allowing residents to stay informed about potential risks and make decisions accordingly. The platform also provides additional features such as incident details, safety tips, and emergency contact information.
How we built it
Stay Safe Madison was built using a combination of data analysis, geospatial mapping, and web development technologies. We collected and processed recent crime reports, implemented algorithms to categorize zones, and developed an intuitive web interface to present the information to users. The project involved collaboration among data scientists, developers, and UI/UX designers.
Challenges we ran into
