Inspiration

The recent pandemic COVID-19 has flooded hospitals with sick patients without the medical supplies needed to support them. Hospitals have been reaching out to everyday people for donations for face masks, hand sanitizer, gloves, goggles and much more. We wanted to help get these donations to these hospitals as fast as possible!

What it does

Our Web App will allow users to register with their name and email address, and then select between different medical supplies and how much they are willing to donate. After this the app will email the user to let them know when a pickup will be scheduled.

How I built it

We built it using React and Ant Design for our front end development, and JavaScript and Firebase to handle the back end. Using Google Firebase we were able build a database and store user data as well as donation details. We handled all our version control through GitHub.

Challenges I ran into

Integrating Firebase with React was quite a challenge but ultimately proved to be extremely efficient and a great learning experience. Learning to use Ant Design's wide variety of components was also challenging but is now a great resource to have in our programming arsenal. Working from home did create difficulties which we were able to overcome using Git and Discord to code as a team.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Successfully creating and using a database in Firebase and efficiently using Git to work with teammates while at home.
