Inspiration

We were discussing what issues do we face while working on computers. Then, we found out of that, often we forget to drink water or take breaks in between the work, which are necessary. If we work continuously in one stretch, it might create health problems. So, we thought of building a chrome extension which will help people remind to take breaks or have a drink!

What it does

Stay Healthy is a website + a google chrome extension! On the website, you can find BMI calculator, inserting your details, it will show your BMI score and tell how fit you're. We also have included some healthy lifestyle tips. One should follow these tips to stay fit and healthy.

About the google chrome extension, often, people while working on some project or debugging a bug, forget to drink water or take breaks which in long run can affect your health. Our extension, we remind you to take breaks and drink water after pre-set or custom time interval set by you.

How we built it

We have used chrome alarms to set the alarm to pre-set or custom time intervals. For the notifications, we have used chrome notifications. The website is built with HTML, CSS and JS. BMI Calculator logic is written in JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into

Passing the data from the extension to background script was challenge to us. We were building a chrome extension for the very first time. Though, with help of YouTube and Stack overflow, we overcome challenges and made this chrome extension.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of building a chrome extension which will help people and helps them to stay fit and healthy.

What we learned

Hackathons are for learning! Previously, everytime, we were using GitHub to collaborate with teammates. But, this time, we tried using Repl.it. It was pretty easy and convenient for us to work simultaneously on the same project.

What's next for Stay Healthy!

We aren't sure about it at the moment. We are planning to integrate more and more features to the extension and make as useful as possible. We're hoping that it will be helpful to the people.
