Inspiration

After reading all the news stories about businesses that are struggling we were inspired to do something for them. We also saw on social media that there are many pupils that sympathises with these businesses. So we know we just have to create a way to bridge the gap that exists between them because of the lockdown.

What it does

The Staybox is a curated box of products, experiences from your community. It provides an opportunity for local, small businesses to both sell and market their products.

Customers can subscribe to the box either monthly or bi-weekly.

How we built it

We built the business model based on the insights we gathered:

  1. Local businesses needs a way to get their products out to the customer.
  2. Online sales in certain categories are experiencing a huge growth.
  3. There is a huge market for subscription boxes ($15B+ internationally)
  4. Few costs to startup and potentially quick road to market.

Challenges we ran into

Finding out what businesses needs right now. Finding the right business model for both the customer and the business.

We expect that some modification to the model needs to be accommodated for certain markets or certain businesses.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Survey with 59 + respondents, this gave us insight of what the customers' needs. Finalizing the business plan. Visualising the project idea. Engaging talented people to help us with the project.

What we learned

What kind of challenges we will face and how to handle them. The importance of finding the right partners.

What's next for Stay Box

  1. Building the website
  2. Building the Box: Design and materials.
  3. Building the brand --> What should te Staybox contain, what should it look like?
  4. Solving the logistics --> How and where do we safely and efficiently assemble and deliver the product?
  5. Finding the partners --> Finding potential partners and iterating the partnership models.
  6. Marketing --> Finding the right channels to reach out to the customers.

We are also working on engaging more people with domain expertise, so we are able to solve all these task quickly.
To launch we need funding for buying the materials needed for the physical product, and to start marketing and acquiring the first customers.
