Inspiration

How does one make streaming video interfaces more useful and more interactive. Currently 3d streaming is in its infancy and there is a lot of ways to make things more useful and interesting for watcher.

What it does

It is an interface while streaming the movie provides stat information on one side, and "clip" data on another side.

How I built it

Duct tape and bubblegum. It is built html5/javascript using the a-frame libraries. Stats were downloaded from sportsradar

Challenges I ran into

Deciding what should go where.
Framework/Library pickiness. Random problems with connections and code not working. Standard development problems on a strict time frame. Lack of good public domain 3d baseball game videos.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I have something on screen that you can interact with.

What I learned

VR provides some interesting uses of screen real estate, especially in 3d baseball games where not all of the screen is particularly interesting.

What's next for StatVR

The idea was a riff previous project into making baseball game watching more interactive. The interface might be a good fit to add the game playing elements.
