State Farm Business Guard

Inspiration

As State Farm provides insurance services in multiple dimensions ranging from housing, auto, life, and liability, we are intrigued by developing an innovative solution in enhancing customer experience regarding State Farm's small business insurance policies.

What it does

Our mobile application initially prompts the user to enter their login username and passcode credentials upon opening it. After logging in, the app displays a general homepage which welcomes the user and provides a dashboard with buttons allowing users to view State Farm's policies and terms of agreement, upcoming payments, or recent activity. Depending on the user's next input, the program showcases the various policy coverage details of different types of insurance offered to small business owners: auto, property, and liability. As well, it displays an option to view payment history for each kind of insurance. The app contains push notifications regarding important policy status updates and changes.

How we built it

We used Swift and Xcode for programming the mobile application. We used Canva for creating the Storyboard mobile application pages. We also used Google Slides for generating a slideshow for the presentation pitch.

Challenges we ran into

We struggled to work through the entirety of the night due to a lack of sleep.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of successfully developing a working mobile application that passes all test cases.

What we learned

We learned how to implement Swift in designing and developing a mobile application. We also learned how to effectively create a flow-chart and a storyboard in making different pages of the mobile application. Throughout this challenge, we gained insight in how State Farm develops favorable insurance policies in multiple areas such as auto, housing, and small business. We had the opportunity to design a mobile application that focuses on improving small business insurance services to all customers.

What's next for State Farm Business Guard

After future updates, State Farm Business Guard will provide users with information pertaining to local properties to lease or purchase for small business purposes. It will perform an analysis regarding properties with optimal insurance value and interest rate for small business owners to rent or buy. This statistical analysis will convey how State Farm offers business insurance services to satisfy the individual and unique needs of different customers. This aids new business owners who struggle to find cheap properties to house their firms, as well as current business owners trying to expand their horizon.
