Inspiration

The idea for Stasis came from a personal experience. After my grandfather was discharged from the hospital, his recovery was slow. The reason was not the illness itself, but the way medicines were taken. Some doses were missed, timings were unbalanced, and certain medicines were taken with food that reduced their effect or caused infections. Seeing this made us realize that medicines only work properly when taken at the right time and with the correct food. This experience inspired us to build a system that guides people clearly through their medication routine.

What it does

Stasis is a smart medication management app that helps people take medicines correctly and safely. It creates a daily schedule showing when each medicine should be taken, highlights important doses, and guides users on food intake such as before meals, after meals, or foods to avoid. It also checks for harmful drug combinations, sends reminders, and alerts users before refills are needed, making medicine routines easy for patients, caregivers, and doctors.

How we built it

We built Stasis using Flutter to create a smooth and easy to use mobile interface. Firebase handles user authentication, real time data storage, notifications, and offline support. For intelligence, we integrated the Gemini API to analyse drug interactions and provide safety guidance. The system is designed to use caching and optimisation so that AI usage remains efficient and scalable.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was our limited background in medicine. We had to study how medicines interact, how food affects absorption, and whether such guidance could be safely delivered to users. Another challenge was simplifying medical information without losing accuracy. Designing an app that is powerful but still easy for elderly users was also a key difficulty.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that Stasis became a highly user friendly platform that anyone can understand. Complex features like scheduling, safety checks, and intelligent guidance are presented in a simple interface. Knowing that this app can help people recover faster and avoid medication related problems makes this project meaningful to us.

What we learned

This project helped us learn across both medical and engineering fields. We gained knowledge about medication safety, patient behaviour, and healthcare responsibility while improving our skills in mobile development, cloud systems, and AI integration. It showed us how technology can create real impact when built with care.

What's next for Stasis

Our next goal is to scale Stasis into a more advanced medication support platform. We plan to add deeper personalisation, pharmacy and health record integration, multilingual and voice support, advanced analytics, and stronger security features to make it useful for more people.
