Inspiration
We’ve all wished upon a star, hoping our dreams would come true. Now with Starwish, your wishes become stars—ones your friends can help make real. Each wish is a mystery: your friend draws one at random from a bundle, and even you won’t know which one they picked.
What it does
Starwish lets you turn your wishes into stars. You can then weave them into a “Star Chain” and send a secret link to someone special. When they open the link, they'll randomly draw one wish from your wish box—just once. What they receive remains a surprise for you, so they can secretly plan to make it happen. All wishes remain private and can only be opened a single time.
How we built it
Built entirely solo, I used Bolt as my co-pilot, iterating through countless versions through natural language conversations. Every feature, bugfix, and flow was designed, tested, and deployed with Bolt as my AI pair programmer.
Challenges we ran into
This was my first time building a full-stack product using Bolt. Syncing state across frontend and backend logic proved tricky. Bolt would occasionally fall into logical loops—fixing one problem created another. But by carefully reading its responses and redirecting its logic step-by-step, I was able to guide it out of those loops and reach working solutions. Testing was also inefficient. A standardized AI-generated testing playbook would have helped—if there were a QA engineer agent for Bolt, I’d gladly pay for it. Version management became another issue—some features were added impulsively during development. Later, deciding to remove them became complex due to interdependencies.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I built this entire product solo. It proves that with the power of AI, one person can act as a full-stack company and bring refined, aesthetic ideas to life. I’m excited and proud of what I’ve achieved.
What we learned
AI is still young. Trust your own human taste, question AI’s decisions, and guide it to grow with you. It’s a collaboration, not delegation.
What's next for Starwish
We’re launching into the real world. It’s time to meet users, learn from them, and co-create the future of Starwish—together.
