Inspiration 💡
Shark Tank India has become a symbol of India's growing startup culture. I wanted to analyze the funding patterns, investor participation, and industry trends to uncover hidden insights that are not always obvious from the show.
What it does 📊
This project is an interactive Tableau dashboard that provides:
- Funding distribution by industry, city, and investment type
- Top investors and their contributions
- Insights on average deal size, total startups funded, and funding trends
- Geographical mapping of where the money flows across India
How I built it ⚙️
- Cleaned and prepared the dataset in Excel/CSV
- Built visualizations and KPIs in Tableau (bar charts, treemap, pie chart, map plots, and more)
- Combined insights into a single interactive dashboard
Challenges I ran into 🚧
- Cleaning messy funding data with duplicates and missing values
- Designing charts that are not just visually appealing but also meaningful
- Choosing the right KPI cards and layout for clarity
Accomplishments that I'm proud of 🏆
- Successfully built a professional dashboard with multiple views
- Discovered interesting insights, such as top-funded cities, most active investors, and funding dominance by private equity
- Made the dashboard easy to understand for both technical and non-technical audiences
What I learned 📚
- Practical hands-on experience with data cleaning and Tableau dashboard design
- How to create KPIs, treemaps, pie charts, and geospatial maps effectively
- Storytelling with data — transforming raw numbers into insights
What's next 🚀
- Adding time-series analysis for year-over-year funding growth
- Automating data refreshes through APIs
- Expanding the dashboard to include seasonal comparisons across Shark Tank India seasons
