Inspiration
As a career-changer in the US, I struggled to find clear, cohesive resources to prep for coding bootcamps—scattered tutorials, no hands-on practice, and no way to build a portfolio that stood out. I knew others in Europe and North America faced the same pain, so I built what I wished existed: a one-stop platform for absolute beginners.
What it does
Coding Bootcamp Prep guides learners from zero coding experience to bootcamp-ready status. It offers structured learning paths, in-browser coding practice with instant feedback, a portfolio builder to showcase projects, and community support with mentors/peers—all tailored for those transitioning into tech.
How we built it
I started with Figma to map the UI/UX (alternating light/dark sections, glassmorphism, gradient accents). Used HTML/CSS for core layout, JavaScript + GSAP for animations (scroll triggers, hover effects, count-up stats), and TailwindCSS for responsive design. I prioritized mobile optimization (hamburger nav, single-column grids) and accessibility.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest hurdle was balancing dynamic animations with performance—low-end devices struggled with particle effects in the hero section. I optimized by adding animation degradation for slower hardware. Also, designing the in-browser code editor mock to feel realistic (without live execution) required careful UI styling and fake output triggers.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a fully responsive, visually cohesive platform that feels polished and intuitive. The hover micro-interactions (card lifts, glowing CTAs) and scroll animations make the experience engaging, while the structured learning path solves a real pain point for bootcamp hopefuls.
What we learned
I deepened my understanding of intersection observers for scroll animations, glassmorphism implementation with backdrop-filter, and responsive grid design. Most importantly, I learned to prioritize user-centric design—every feature ties back to solving the core pain points of career-changers and beginners.
What's next for this project
Add live in-browser code execution (integrating a code runtime API), build out the bootcamp matching tool (partnering with North American/European bootcamps), and launch a mentorship portal with peer learning groups. I also plan to add resume building tools tailored for tech bootcamp applications.
