We originally wanted to do doom, however that did not fit with the theme, so the closest shooter we could think of is Space Invaders! We built it off of Apple's Swift UI and Reality Kit, with also implementing blender, for our 3d renditions of models. We haven't had much experience with Swift, especially Reality Kit so implementing a creating an AR app, was extremely tedious. We learned how to create a 3 dimensional barrier that the phone can recognize to keep the player locked in the phone. Getting the project started was within itself a challenge, without many references online and with AI not really being able to help with our code problems, it took a lot of trial and error. Ensuring that all the elements of AR Arcade came together cohesively and operated smoothly within the augmented reality environment was a challenging yet rewarding process. From integrating AR visuals with continuous spawning mechanics to balancing game play elements and building a user-friendly interface, we faced a series of technical and design hurdles.
