Inspiration

There are 88 official constellations. Each one is a shape someone once chose to see in the stars. Starryfable gives that moment to everyone: the 89th constellation is yours to draw.

What it does

  • Point your iPhone at the sky. The real stars above you appear on screen, matched to the horizon you can actually see.
  • Tap and connect them into a shape, give it a name, and watch it come to life.
  • Every constellation you make is kept in a library you can search, favorite, and write stories for.
  • Turn one into a gift card, a six-second film, or a file you hand to one specific person.
  • A friend can draw on the same stars, and you can compare both side by side. There are no scores and no rankings.

Starryfable is not an astrology app. It has no feed, no likes, no followers, no ads, and no account to create.

How we built it

Native iOS app in Swift and SwiftUI. Star positions are computed on-device from a bundled subset of the Bright Star Catalog, using the user's location and time. RevenueCat powers the optional Starryfable Pro subscription (paywall, 7-day free trial, entitlement checks).

Challenges

Making the sky on screen line up with the real horizon, so the stars you tap are the stars you see.

What's next

iPad support, and localizing the App Store listing for more regions.
