Inspiration
Spaceport Café was inspired by the cozy charm of small spaceport outposts in sci-fi worlds. I wanted to capture that quiet moment between adventures, where trading becomes both a livelihood and a rhythm of survival among the stars.
How we built it
The game was built using Devvit for Reddit apps, combining TypeScript, React-style components, and the reddit blocks system. The backend logic manages player travel, markets, and community goals through lightweight data models, keeping everything synchronized across posts.

How to play
Enter the Starport Café post Begin by accessing the Reddit post titled “Starport Café.” This is the player’s main base and the location from which interplanetary travel begins.
Navigate to a planet Use the built-in planet navigation system to travel to other worlds. Each planet has its own economic characteristics and market offerings.
Trade resources Every planet both buys and sells different materials such as fuel, metal, and crystals. Market prices vary between planets, so players are encouraged to buy resources where they are inexpensive and sell them where they are in demand.
Contribute to planetary goals After accumulating sufficient resources, players may contribute to a planet’s active goal. When enough contributions have been made, the goal is completed and transitions into a new objective, representing progress in that planet’s development.
Continue exploring and expanding Players can repeat the cycle of traveling, trading, and contributing to build wealth and influence throughout the system.
