Inspired by the James Webb Space Telescope, I wanted to create a visual gateway to explore cosmic wonders. I learned about server-side rendering with Next.js for performance and SEO. Building the data fetching pipeline was challenging, but ultimately rewarding. Using the NASA API proved invaluable, however rate limiting required careful implementation of caching strategies and error handling to prevent service disruptions. React-three-fiber provided a means to visualize datasets in 3D. I also faced the challenge of optimizing large image assets for various screen sizes.
