StarGazer

Inspiration

Well we wanted to make a product that allows for someone with a very creative mind to make something and record it so that they can remember their tune and develop it further. We chose to go with the synthesiser tune since it is a reminder of old school game theme songs like mario and such.

What it does

It essentailly display audio in a calm and clear manner which allows for the music dev to calmly create their music and record it.

How I built it

Backend

We utilised Docker with nodejs (with express endpoints) and mysql. Sadly we were probably like 3 hours away from integrating the backed into the frontend.

Frontend

Basic HTML and CSS with utilisation of Bootstrap framework for a simple UI. We also used Processor 5 JS to create the interactive audio visualisation.

Challenges I ran into

Figuring out how to make creative interactive audio visualisation look good.

Somehow made it though...

What I learned

Do no start by using tech you don't know. (for 24 hours) RGU eduroam is kinda garbage because it has an invasive firewall. (spend like 5 hours troubleshooting why I coudnt connect to my cloud db).

What's next for StarGazer

PROPER BACKEND IMPLEMENTATION :') Better UI, and better synth library.
