Inspiration

I am a true believer in astrology and thought the recent advances in AI could really unleash it's power like never before.

My goal is to create the greatest astrology app in the world and to help millions of people discover who they really are and to find meaning in their lives.

What it does

It combines astrological knowledge and facts with AI in order to provide holistic readings for people to help them become their own guru, learn about themselves and the important people in their lives, and discover and walk their true Path of Destiny.

How we built it

Used ReactNative for the client, RevenueCat for subscription management, Swiss Ephemeris wrapped in a node js backend for the astrology data, Fast API python for the backend, Strapi CMS for the pre written astrology readings, Postgres for the database and Kubernetes for the deployment.

Used Augment with Claude for the AI code assist.

Challenges we ran into

Managing the subscription state was tricky, but RevenueCat's webhooks were amazing. Getting it into the app store was one of the hardest parts. Finding the right mix of astrological facts and context to get the best astrology readings was also a challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The astrology itself is excellent.
Early adopters are telling us the look and feel and overall design is really beautiful. People feel seen and genuinely guided by the app.

What we learned

It's important to work on something you believe in. Python is pretty great. AI coding requires and rewards older coding principles like encapsulation

What's next for STARFIELDS

Currently working on deepening the guidance system and extending notifications to help people understand and learn about significant astrological events in a timely and engaging fashion.
