Inspiration

My mother is the core inspiration. We’ve been apart for three years, and her unwavering love sparked this story.

What it does

An interstellar short that asks: in a future run by machines, can human love, dignity, and choice still steer destiny? STARFARE × 1 answers yes—through a mother–daughter journey.

How we built it

  • Followed a 3D-animation–style pipeline: character, set, and prop design.
  • Created a visual bible for identity & continuity.
  • Generated shots primarily with Google Veo 3.1, using leading AI image tools for production design and references.
  • Edited the cut, then finished with conventional post (sound, color, titles).

Challenges we ran into

  • Rapid AI iteration forced constant pipeline updates during pre-production.
  • Keyframing/prompt-drift control was time-intensive.
  • Maintaining character and environment consistency across shots was the toughest problem.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Production speed improved from ~1 short / 3 days to ~1 short / 1 day ((\approx 3 \times) faster) while preserving cinematic realism and identity consistency.

What we learned

AI filmmaking can be craftsmanship. As tools lower technical barriers, storytelling, performance direction, and continuity design become the true differentiators. Story first—always.

What’s next for STARFARE × 1

Expand the world—potentially a limited series, or a feature. Next steps: audience feedback, a refined teaser, and iterative worldbuilding to scale the narrative.
