My journey into building virtual worlds began with my daughter's desire for an Oculus. After experiencing VR, her aspirations grew to include a mansion within Meta's platform. When the estimated cost reached $5,000, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Inspired by my daughter, I immersed myself in video tutorials on building and scripting.
Since then, I've learned to script both independently and with AI assistance, as well as how to integrate high-quality assets and textures. Navigating this learning process independently presented its own set of challenges.
One of my favorite aspects of this build is the interactive social game in the main living area. Players can trigger thought-provoking questions displayed on the wall simply by touching designated spots. Additionally, a hidden stairwell leads to a basketball game accessible to both VR and mobile users.
I'm particularly proud that my world currently achieves 100% geometry optimization with four concurrent players. Looking ahead, I plan to incorporate more interactive elements, establish a virtual store, and further enhance the environment with higher quality textures and animated assets.
