Inspiration

We picked Star Wars Club from the Case Studies doc and are pretty pumped about it! We decided to make a website, because an app might be very high-commitment and we have more web than app skills. But Nuo wen told us that Star Wars Club really meant sharing-platform rather than specifically app, so we thought a website would be cool!

What it does

This is a website that has a really intricate Star Wars console game, a cool feed where leaders can share images & videos (https://forms.gle/vwRQFJyy5X9PRQjk9), a member list for Star Wars Club, a club calendar, a signup form, an about page, and a home page!

How we built it

We coded the game in Java (with a lot of debugging :))). We built the site in HTML and CSS for the index, home, and members page! But we also used Javascript (JS) and the API Spreadsheets API for the social media feed - that one was really dependent on JS and the APISpreadsheets API.

Challenges we ran into

We tried to make a question/chat room but unfortunately it didn't work because of a bunch of server issues! We got too close to the deadline to keep debugging :(. We also had some bugs pop up in the game & image/video feed! But we resolved them after some trial and error.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to make an awesome game and a great leader sharing feed! The website looks really nice. We pushed past/solved a lot of challenging bugs!

What we learned

We brushed up on our JS skills (they were a bit rusty)! We also practiced/honed our skills in debugging!

What's next for Star Wars Club Website

We're hoping to give this to the Star Wars Club leaders and actually fill in the leader + club schedule + member information! We also only have a certain # of requests from APISpreadsheets that we're allowed in a day so we're hoping to switch to a different JS-spreadsheet-interaction-facilitating API!
