Inspiration

Planners can work for a few people but not for everyone. Our project aims to make planning and time management a fun and interactive experience for all ages. The project also seeks to promote healthy lifestyle changes for everyone.

What it does

This project allows users to be able to input a variety of tasks that a user may want to do daily and provides rewards to the user with the overall goal of promoting time management and planning skills. First, the user would log into the game and create an avatar that is themed around space which in this case is an astronaut. The user would first input a task and the user can manage how much time the task would take. For example, if the player wanted to go to the gym for 30 minutes, then they would just input in the application go to the gym and if the player fully goes to the gym for 30 minutes, then they will earn a star. If the player has a task that could either take a shorter or a longer amount of time, then we implemented a timer so that the player can simply stop the timer. If the player has – that are reoccurring for example, if the player wants to continuously go to the gym throughout the week, then we implemented a reoccurring task feature that allows the player to be able to have the task automatically appear throughout the period of reoccurrence. If the user does more tasks, then they will earn star points. If the user earns enough stars, then they will move up to the next rank. The next rank is based on the player's rank so if the player needs to level up to rank two, then they would need to earn 16 total stars. (Player goal rank * 8= next rank). That way it encourages users to continuously use the game. Depending on the player's rank, they would be able to unlock different customization features for their player character. The game also allows players to to use their stars through the shop page which allows users to buy different customization features with the stars. The game also promotes player engagement through the use of a plaza feature. The user would be able to go to different buildings and interact with other fellow players within the game to promote player engagement and interactive fun these buildings each will have a mini-game to also promote fun as well. If the player also wants to start a new healthy lifestyle then the game has a bounty system, the bounty system is a pre-existing task that allows players to earn more star points. These tasks can be something as simple as going to the gym for 21 days or studying for 30 minutes two days a week. That way, it encourages players to engage in healthy lifestyles and assists them in making lifestyle changes. The bounty system is also put in place so that the player is not allowed time

How we built it

We built it by utilizing the program Figma.

Challenges we ran into

We had a difficult time dealing with the idea of exploiting tasks to earn points. To counteract this we created the bounty system that gives players more stars but the bounties are harder to complete due to them not having a timer. We also had difficulty with combining everyone's skill set due to everyone being different majors.

We learned collaboration and team-building skills that allow us to be able to be prepared for any future careers that are in store for us
