Inspiration
We wanted to create a fast-paced arcade game that feels fun right away. Classic 2D space shooters inspired us—simple controls, quick action, and lots of satisfying explosions.
What it does
Star Shoot is a 2D shooter where you control a small starship and fight waves of enemies. You dodge incoming projectiles, collect power-ups, and try to survive as long as possible while increasing your score.
How we built it
We built the game using a lightweight 2D game engine, focusing on simple movement, shooting mechanics, and enemy AI. The assets were kept minimal so we could focus on smooth gameplay and polished controls.
Challenges we ran into
Balancing enemy difficulty and player power-ups took longer than expected. We also had to tweak collisions and hitboxes to make the game feel fair but still challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud that the core gameplay feels responsive and fun. Even with simple graphics, the game delivers a satisfying arcade feel with smooth controls and fast gameplay.
What we learned
We learned how important small tuning details are—movement speed, fire rate, enemy patterns, and even sound effects all make a huge difference in the final feel.
What's next for star shoot
We want to add more enemy types, boss fights, and new weapons. A high-score leaderboard and maybe co-op mode are also planned for future updates.
