Inspiration

We wanted to create a learning platform that actually works for every student, recognizing that people learn differently. Students with ADHD, dyslexia, or math difficulties often struggle with traditional methods, so we aimed to provide personalized support that adapts to each learner. Additionally, it helps with this current day and age where many distractions exist to tempt students and it can help them stay focused and productive.

What it does

Star Scholar helps students stay focused with gentle reminders and short breaks when attention drops. It also analyzes productivity trends and growth. It simplifies complex reading, highlights key ideas, and can reads content aloud. In math, it tracks repeated mistakes and offers targeted practice.

How we built it

We used HTML, Javascript, and CSS to code together on the different parts of the platform. Eventually, we committed it all to Github to collaborate.

Challenges we ran into

We had to do a little but of research to push our code to Github as that was new for us. Additionally, we had a little trouble figuring out the best tools to do this like track metrics over time, and read text to speech.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to create many new features that we didn't expect we'd be able to do, such as tracking when a student leaves the tab, and analyzing productivity trends, along with adapting lessons to specific learners and just truly creating something that could help those who struggle with even the simplest tasks daily.

What we learned

First of all, when researching our issue, we learned about the widespread issue that learning disabilities are. Additionally, throughout making this project we learned much about the different features of HTML, CSS, and Javascript, along with things like how to integrate them and collaborate.

What's next for Star Scholars

We hope to integrate backend with metrics tracked across devices and sessions. Additionally, we could create something to help with student mental health and perhaps we could allow students to go to other apps that include tools like google classroom but restrict distractions like Netflix. We could also convert this into an app, and perhaps create an AI companion to help with all of this.
