Inspiration

Going off the division theme we were assigned, we felt that this kind of tracker was perfect. We felt like while there are multiple apps for recording and visualizing this kind of information, we don’t really see these features in a web based application. Having something like this, which is most likely done daily, being limited to an app makes it more inaccessible since you can’t use mobile apps on any device other than, well, a mobile phone. By moving these features to a web based application, it makes it possible to record vitals from anywhere, whether it be a phone, computer, ipad, etc.

What it does

Star of Life takes in the user’s weight and blood pressure inputs to form a graph with all the previous data they have submitted to the website. It also saves their information when they close out of the tab without having to login in or logout.

How we built it

We built the website using CSS, HTML, Javascript, and JSCharting on the Visual Studio Code Platform.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge we ran into was figuring out how to save the information the user inputs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud of the fact that our website saves the information the user inputs, even when they close the tab/browser. We went through a lot of trial and error, experimenting with databases and all sorts of crazy things. Eventually, we were able to get some advice and ended up with a system that isn’t too invasive for the user and still makes it easy to record and visualize their data. We are also very happy with the fact that we got a finished product at all since this was our first time ever using HTML, Jscript for websites, and CSS.

What we learned

This was our first time coding a website and also our first time using HTML and CSS so we were learning how to code the website along the way. A cool thing we figured out with the help of the Meta employees was that we could save the user’s data without having them make an account.

What's next for Star of Life

We would like to improve the UI of the form for input and the graph’s visual appeal. We’d also want the app to be able to track more things, like blood sugar.
