Inspiration
When I was younger I used to play casual video games that simulated starship adventures like "Strange Adventures in Infinite Space". I wanted to try a modern version of this that took advantage of AI to generate even wilder random scenarios in a short 15-30 minute mobile game.
What it does
Players start in a randomly generated starship and a randomly generated galaxy and travel around the galaxy installing starship upgrades, hiring crew and collecting amusingly weird animals, plants and jewels. Along the way they face pirate attacks, appeals from friendly aliens, black holes, asteroid swarms and more.
At the end of the game, the player gets a short sharable summary of their accomplishments that makes them feel like a character in a science fiction story.
How we built it
Not built yet but since the game has a simple 2D UI, the front end should be pretty easy to build in NoesisGUI or something like that.
Challenges we ran into
None yet.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Writing these documents in just a few days with the help of the Inkscape SVG editor.
What we learned
A bit more experience in writing good prompts for AI art.
What's next for Star Adventures Starship Simulation
I hope to win a prize and then develop this into a successful game.
