Inspiration
As a former student, I faced challenges in studying sciences due to the lack of well-equipped labs in my school. This struggle inspired the idea of bringing laboratory experiences to computers.
What it does
StanLab Pico App is a cloud-based, 3D virtual laboratory application designed to facilitate remote learning of science practicals. Students engage with 3D content and simulations, conduct hands-on experiments, and receive assessments from their teachers. The application enhances understanding of science concepts, provides a platform for practicing experiments, and fosters skills in using scientific equipment correctly and safely.
How we built it
Our solution was crafted using Blender, Unity3D, and the Pico Integration SDK.
Challenges we ran into
Initially developing a desktop version, we discovered this hackathon later in the process. Despite the time constraints, we successfully integrated our solution with Pico.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully ported one of our ten labs into Pico and are excited about extending this success to the remaining labs.
What we learned
Throughout the process, we gained insights into XR interaction, particularly in the VR space, and honed our skills in porting desktop XR apps into VR.
What's next for StanLab Pico App
Our future endeavors involve porting the remaining labs into the Pico platform, ensuring a comprehensive virtual laboratory experience for students.
