Inspiration

Many small businesses struggle to manage daily operations because they cannot afford to hire employees for every responsibility. Business owners often handle customer inquiries, sales, orders, and administrative tasks themselves.

We asked ourselves: What if every small business could have its own digital workforce without the cost of hiring an entire team?

That question inspired Staffly AI.

What it does

Staffly AI is an intelligent digital workforce designed to help businesses automate everyday operations through AI employees.

It aims to provide digital employees that can handle customer support, respond to sales inquiries, manage orders, capture potential customers, and assist with routine business operations.

Our goal is to help business owners save time, reduce workload, and focus on growing their businesses.

How we built it

Our approach is to build Staffly AI around an AI-powered business dashboard where users can access and manage their digital employees.

We are focusing on a practical MVP that connects customer inquiries to useful responses, lead capture, and order management.

We intend to use Mel as our primary agentic building tool for planning, development, debugging, and testing, with AI capabilities powering the employees.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was turning a broad idea of an AI workforce into a focused and achievable product within a limited hackathon timeframe.

We also had to think about how to make AI employees perform meaningful tasks rather than simply function as conversational chatbots.

Working with a new development tool and exploring how much could be achieved through natural-language instructions also presented a learning curve.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to develop an idea that addresses a real challenge faced by small businesses, particularly those operating with limited resources.

We have established a clear product direction, identified the core features, and developed a vision for making AI-powered digital employees more accessible.

Most importantly, we are exploring how AI can move beyond answering questions to helping businesses get actual work done.

What we learned

We learned that building useful AI products requires more than connecting an AI model to a chatbot. It requires understanding real problems, designing practical workflows, and ensuring that AI can complete tasks reliably.

We also gained a better appreciation of agentic AI and its potential to transform everyday business operations.

What's next for Staffly AI

Our next step is to develop a functional MVP, test its AI employees with realistic business scenarios, and improve their ability to complete tasks with appropriate human oversight.

We envision expanding Staffly AI into a digital workforce platform where businesses can deploy specialised AI employees for different roles, monitor their activities, and manage operations from one place.

Our long-term goal is simple: make intelligent digital employees accessible to businesses of every size.
