Inspiration
StackShop was inspired by the growing demand for scalable and secure e-commerce platforms that provide a smooth experience for buyers, sellers, and administrators. The goal was to create a modern multi-vendor marketplace while gaining hands-on experience in full-stack development, cloud deployment, and real-world payment integration.## What it does
How we built it
We built StackShop using Django and Django REST Framework for the backend and HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React concepts for the frontend experience. MySQL was used for database management with AWS RDS hosting. The application was deployed on AWS EC2 using Gunicorn and Nginx, while AWS S3 handled media storage. Cloudflare CDN and SSL were configured for performance and security. Git and CI/CD practices were used for version control and deployment workflows.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was implementing secure role-based access control for multiple user types while maintaining scalability. Integrating Razorpay payment workflows and OTP verification also required careful backend handling and validation. Deployment configuration with Nginx, Gunicorn, AWS services, and Cloudflare DNS setup involved troubleshooting server and security issues.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully built and deployed a production-ready multi-vendor e-commerce platform. Implemented secure OTP-based authentication and role-based access control. Integrated Razorpay with multiple payment methods. Achieved scalable deployment using AWS EC2, RDS, and S3. Configured Cloudflare CDN and SSL for improved performance and security. Followed professional CI/CD and deployment practices.
What we learned
Through StackShop, we gained practical experience in full-stack web development, cloud deployment, payment gateway integration, and production server management. We also improved our understanding of authentication systems, scalable backend architecture, DevOps workflows, and collaborative software development practices.
