"Help at Your FingerTips!!!!!" We were inspired to build Squire because, as students and citizens, we often need quick assistance but lack a real-time, reliable way to connect with nearby helpers. Whether it's moving to a new country for school and needing help with important documents, getting to and from campus, handling difficult tasks alone at home, or even understanding a tough assignment, Squire bridges the gap by providing instant access to trustworthy local helpers. Our platform enables users to request assistance for small tasks like carrying groceries or fixing a flat tire, matching them with available helpers nearby. We built it using Next.js for the frontend, Firebase for authentication and real-time database management for efficient data streaming. Throughout development, we faced challenges such as ensuring real-time accuracy, maintaining user safety, and designing an intuitive interface. Despite these obstacles, we’re proud of creating a scalable and impactful solution that fosters community assistance. This experience taught us valuable lessons in teamwork, optimizing real-time features, and implementing robust security measures. Moving forward, we plan to enhance Squire by adding a tipping system, in-app chat, and a reputation-based reward system to encourage engagement and trust among users.
