Inspiration
Squigl's character design is an homage to Splatoon, but the gameplay itself was mostly inspired by virtual aquarium games
What it does
The player controls the main character, Squigl, who moves wherever the player clicks and holds their left mouse button. Squigl can create clouds of ink when the player clicks and holds their right mouse button.
How we built it
Live collaboration through a VScode plugin, built using python and the pygame library.
Challenges we ran into
Originally built on repl.it, but we ran into some CPU usage issues with that. VScode worked better, but due to the files being locally hosted it was harder for team members to work in parallel.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The character's movement and physics, the art, and the overall relaxed and casual feel of the gameplay.
What we learned
How to use VScode, strengthened our pygame skills
What's next for Squigl
Potentially fleshed out and devloped into a .io game?
