What it does

SquARe is a revolutionary mobile app that merges the power of Augmented Reality (AR) and geospatial technology to create an unprecedented way of connecting, communicating, and discovering the world. With SquARe, users can create and attach digital posters to specific locations in the real world, allowing others to view and experience them through their AR device. This creates a new level of immersion and interactivity that allows users to share memories, ask for help, advertise their business, or create an exhibition in an entirely new way. Whether you are exploring a new city or just looking for something new in your own neighborhood, SquARe makes it easy and accessible. Our experience mode allows you to easily find the nearest shops, hotels, or bars and see what's happening around you. Join us and experience the world in a whole new way with SquARe.

How we built it

SquARe was developed using Unity, a leading game engine, as the foundation for the AR experience. We utilized Google AR Foundation to bring the power of AR to Unity, creating an immersive and interactive experience for users. We incorporated Google's geospatial API to facilitate the placement of digital posters in specific locations and employed Firebase as the backend database to store and retrieve the posters. The app was created using C#, which enabled us to create a fast and user-friendly app. The end result is an innovative app that seamlessly integrates the power of AR and geospatial technology, revolutionizing the way we connect, communicate, and discover the world around us.

Challenges we ran into

During the development of SquARe, we faced several challenges. One of the main challenges was ensuring that the AR experience was accurate and reliable, which required extensive testing and fine-tuning. Another challenge was figuring out an efficient way to store and retrieve the digital posters using geospatial API and Firebase database. We also had to navigate the complexities of integrating different technologies and ensuring that they worked seamlessly together. Despite these challenges, we were determined to turn our vision into a reality.

What's next for squARe

Additionally, we plan to introduce a map view feature, allowing users to easily discover posters in their area. To empower users even further, we will provide poster owners with the ability to edit and update their posters. We also plan to expand the app to other platforms and devices such as smart glasses and smartwatches, making SquARe accessible to a wider audience. Our ultimate goal is to constantly push the boundaries of what is possible and continue to innovate, to deliver an unparalleled experience for our users.
