Open-source contributions — Rami Abdelrazzaq
I contribute focused fixes, features, tests, and documentation to existing open-source projects. This portfolio documents 16 merged pull requests across 10 upstream repositories, verified on October 7, 2026. Each item links to its original pull request so reviewers can inspect the change, discussion, and merge status.
Reliability: protecting session state and update recovery
OpenClaw — case-distinct session cleanup. Deleting a session could also clear plugin state from a different Matrix or Signal session whose opaque identifier differed only by case. I contributed the repair and regression coverage. The merged implementation preserves opaque peer-ID casing while keeping runtime session-ID matching separate. The maintainer retained my primary author credit and added co-author credit for the final integration work. The final PR record documents 36 packaged-Gateway checks and 67 focused tests passing. Inspect PR #122006.
OpenClaw — failed self-update recovery. I contributed a fix that gates gateway restarts on successful updates, preventing a failed update from triggering a crash loop. The change includes focused coverage for failure paths. Inspect PR #18131.
Data tools: handling edge cases correctly
sqlite-utils — empty input, header-only CSV, and plugin isolation. Three merged contributions address empty or whitespace-only input before delimiter detection, header-only CSV imports with type detection, and unintended plugin loading during tests. These changes target small inputs and environment-dependent behavior that can otherwise break command-line workflows. Empty input #837, header-only CSV #707, plugin loading #719.
Datasette — numeric filter coercion. I contributed handling for signed integers and finite decimal/exponent values while preserving text and rejecting non-finite numeric coercion. Regression coverage addresses numeric filtering on computed views. Inspect PR #2876.
Meltano — environment values. I contributed a fix that drops unset values returned from .env parsing, instead of turning them into the literal string "None". Inspect PR #9825.
Features: Unicode export and scientific-data validation
Altair — readable Unicode JSON. I added an ensure_ascii option to JSON export with a default of False, allowing Unicode to remain readable while giving callers explicit control over escaping. The change includes API documentation and test coverage. Inspect PR #3952.
pyFoF — astronomical data validation. I contributed a validation module for astronomical inputs, including right ascension, declination, velocity and magnitude checks, column detection, and an opt-in integration with the data-loading workflow. Inspect PR #80.

What this work demonstrates
Working in unfamiliar codebases, investigating edge cases, limiting changes to a clear problem, adding regression coverage where appropriate, and responding to upstream review. The portfolio includes both engineering changes and smaller documentation/content contributions, with their scope stated separately.
Verification and collaboration
The count includes the 16 linked pull requests authored by RamiNoodle733 and confirmed merged upstream. It excludes personal-repository work, unmerged attempts, and team-project pull requests. Test results quoted above come from the linked PR records, rather than a new full-suite run for this portfolio. My development workflow includes AI assistance; upstream review and merge records provide the evidence for what was accepted. I am a contributor to these projects, and the original maintainers and other contributors retain credit for their products.
