Inspiration
What it does
Tracks temperature and humidity of your plant and live logs it to a web app for easy viewing
How I built it
Built in react with nextJS and chakra for the front end, and supabase for the back end. The raspberry pi writes to the database and the web app reads the data.
Challenges I ran into
Using arduino sensors was hard. Really hard. Our team members had never made a physical product before, only code based, and the sensors were not meant to work with raspberry pi
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We actually got it to work! It does require and Ethernet, and didn’t work with as many sensors as we wanted, but we expanded our knowledge of the subject
What I learned
I learned a lot about hardware and the difficulties of integrating to a web app
What's next for SproutSpy
More sensors, automatic watering, making ittruly a smart way to track your plant
