Inspiration

As there was no robust app in the blockchain space that supports betting, so we thought to build one in this space.

What it does

It facilitates users to create a P2P bet or join an existing bet.

How we built it

We build and deployed on Polygon Mumbai testnet

Challenges we ran into

Optimizing the smart contract to reduce gas utilization was a big challenge. Integration of IPFS for storing metadata off-chain while keeping some of the metadata on-chain. No suitable sports data provider was there for football live matches. Setting up oracle was a big challenge to get match results while the remaining data is being called up by rapid API directly. The Absence of Gelato Ops compatibility for Matic Mumbai was a big setback as automation of a few contract functions could not be done (which will be done in Matic Mainnet)

We are proud that we were successful in making our first version of the app as a P2P betting platform.

What's next for Spoto - Spots betting platform

The initial version of the app would allow people to take P2P bets on sports such as football and cricket. The scores of these games would be fetched from external APIs(future planned to spin up nodes on Chainlink). The MVP product would consist of users placing simple bets on the outcome of the bets. The protocol would display certain matches where users can enter and select their pools where there will be certain entry prices which would be in the native SPT token. In addition to that, a user can either create a new bet or join an existing bet by matching their bet. A user would have a profile where once created the user would be able to level up and earn regards as per their level and their progress in the game. The user profile will be an NFT(ERC721) and the NFT would level up as the player progresses in the game The next version of the game would consist of a fantasy league where users can create a team and pitch their team in a PvP battle and level their NFT profiles up. The higher the NFT profile the higher their pool rewards and also there are other perks and advantages which will be available to players who are above a certain level.
