Inspiration
- As a shy third-year applying for placement opportunities, I often struggle to feel confident during online interviews / recorded responses.
- Theres so many things you have to think about all at once (eye contact, ect) whilst trying to give a strong answer
- Finding people to practise with may be hard, since they might be busy or not really helpful
- I wanted a tool that could coach me through the process step-by-step, adapt to how I perform, and make the experience feel less intimidating.
- I also wanted instant feedback on my practise
What it does
- Asks you a series of questions, such as: the role your applying for, your strengths/weaknesses and what you want to improve on
- Generates some interview questions for you to practise
- Uses Presage SmartSpectra SKD to record your response, including metric data such as heart rate.
- Analyses the response alongside the metric data and provides feedback
How I built it
- Used Android Studio to create the entire app
- Used the Presage SmartSpectra SKD to analyse metrics
- Use the Gemini AI API to generate questions and provide feedback
Challenges we ran into
I could only use the Android version of the Presage SDK (the C/C++ version was only available on one version of Ubuntu). This meant that I was stuck with developing a mobile app in Kotlin from the start, instead of coding in languages I felt more comfortable using.
What's next for spotMe.
Incorporate eye tracking and emotion detection to enhance the responses provided by the AI assistant.
