Inspiration
SpotMe seeks to create a designated social media platform for people to share pictures and short videos of their workouts and other fitness related content. Moreover, SpotMe strives to create a casual, low-stakes social media atmosphere so that everyone, no matter how fit they may be, feels comfortable sharing their fitness journey through SpotMe
What it does
Spot Me currently has three core functionalities. The first functionality is the ability to upload a picture with a short caption, the second is the ability to see fitness pictures of one’s friends, and the last is the ability to see one’s progress via the pictures they have uploaded in the past.
How we built it
We implemented the Front End on Expo Go app via React Native in VS Code. Moreover, we were able to implement a basic back-end through the use of Convex.
Challenges we ran into
- All of us are relatively new to React
- New to convex
- No experience implementing a backend or an app
- Lack of cohesive plan/implementation strategy
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of how we were able to figure out the backend with Convex and create a semi functioning app given our limited experience and time.
What we learned
We learned an enormous amount of React Native as well as the process behind creating an iOS application.
What's next for SpotMe
We are unsure about the future of SpotMe, but we are thinking about adding more features such as workout badges, achievements, team groups and more.
