Inspiration

All types of crimes are committed all the time everyone, from bribes to homicides. But a very high number of these go unreported. We felt that by making the reporting procedure of these easier we could impact the scenario positively.

What it does

We have developed an online portal that helps people report crimes in a transparent, tamper-resistant, and secure manner.

How we built it

We used a tech stack with tools like - HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Polygon ( for deploying smart contracts), and much more.

Challenges we ran into

Our portal provides admin-level login to authorities, to enable these services we decided to use auth0 which was very tedious to implement.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Integrating the entire project seamlessly together and finding the correct tradeoff between user security and privacy.

What we learned

Using Mongodb for database management and writing smart contracts in Solidity

What's next for Spotlight

Adding more functionalities - like map based geotagging of crimes and also frequent tags classification from the reported crimes
