Inspiration
We wanted something which could easily be used to destress and motivate. We wanted it to be customizable and we wanted to integrate our love for music with code.
What it does
It is intended to provide an inspirational quote or play a spotify playlist that is created based on your mood. The user takes a short quiz for the program to assess how they are feeling, and based on the results get a list of feel-good playlists and quotes.
How we built it
We used Python, Javascript, HTML and CSS, and primarily made use of the Spotify Web API, using Query through JSON.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled a lot with getting our API integrated into the program, and were never fully able to incorporate it into the HTML and CSS of the project. We did make good progress, however, needed to have a more thorough understanding of how various components of a site work together. We also wanted to make it a chrome extension, but had no time to do so.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We learned how to implement an API using third party software and got it to perform multiple hand coded functions successfully!
What we learned
Usage of the Spotify API, further knowledge of visual design with HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Troubleshooting and debugging techniques.
What's next for SpotiQuiz
Make the program autonomous in the process of extracting tracks from the URLs instead of giving playlist links and adding the tracks automatically to the playlist. (If we had more time we could have done this).
