Inspiration
The inspiration for SpotifySuggests came from the desire to enhance the music listening experience by tailoring playlists to individual tastes and moods. The idea was to make discovering new music and revisiting old favorites easier and more personal. This aims to aid you to discover new music through a simple yet insightful quiz.
What it does
Users first take a short quiz, answering questions about their music preferences, mood, and other relevant factors. Based on their responses, the app uses the Spotify API to curate a custom playlist that aligns with their current preferences.
How we built it
The front-end of SpotifySuggests was designed using Figma. The back-end, which powers the quiz logic and playlist generation, is built using Node.js, javascript, css, html.
Challenges we ran into
We encountered challenges in API integration, especially in handling authentication. Balancing the user interface with the complexity of the back-end logic was a constant learning process.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have made Spotify API work, it is probably what took us the longest to figure out.
What we learned
Throughout this project, we gained deeper insights into API integration, especially with popular services like Spotify. We improved our skills in front-end design and learned to better harmonize the front-end with complex back-end logic.
What's next for SpotifySuggests
- Better quiz questions
- Better front-end design
