Inspiration

We were inspired by spotify analyzers like receiptify or obscurify.

Learn

We were exposed to many new technologies including Spotify's Web API, Express.js, Node.js, d3.js, and React.js. A large portion of our time went to understanding Spotify's authentication process and API calls. We learned about server-side applications, and how the backend interacts with the frontend. We also learned about data visualization using d3.js.

Challenges

We decided to use React.js as our frontend without knowing much about its usages, when using plain HTML/CSS might have been simpler for beginners to web development like us. We also had trouble reading from Firebase from the client & passing the data to our visualization component. The team also had to learn how to efficiently design a full-stack application, and getting answers to questions like "should we call an API from the backend or frontend?"
