Inspiration

We wanted to find a better way to discover new music outside of Spotify's randomized playlists.

What it does

Our app generates a few songs based off of your preferences. From there you can listen to music directly from the app, choose a song you like the most, and generate more songs based on that choice. You also have the ability to add songs to any one of your playlists.

How we built it

We build our app using React, MaterialUI, Spotify API, and Spotify Web Player SDK.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a lot challenges along the way, including understand a foreign API. Getting the browser to actually play songs. Dealing with mountains of data associated to a specific user.

Accomplishments that we are proud of

We came up with an idea spontaneously and made it a reality all within 24 hours. That's what we are most proud of.

What we learned

We learned a lot about the APIs in general, and a lot about the React framework.

Whats next for Spotifind

Spotifind could easily be improved in a numerous amount of way. We can go further into song personalization, such as change in energy, danceability, instrumentalness, etc. The UI could also see some improvement.
