We started our hackathon searching for ideas while listening to music. After a while, we felt that the music was repetitive and we wanted some change. This got us to share our music with our team members and realized how cool it is to try out others' music tastes. This led us to the development of Spotibot which does that seamlessly.
What it does
It uses the Spotify API to authenticate users and get access to a huge variety of data of the user's account. While it has loads of functionality which can be modified with just a slight change of the script, we have currently set it to take 2 users' playlists, analyse their similarities and differences and suggests each person a unique playlist.
How we built it
We used the telegram chatbot api and went through online tutorials. Due to lack of experience, our team had to start from the basics and work all the way through. We successfully ended up connecting the Spotify API (actually it was spotipy) to Telegram after some authentication.
Challenges we ran into
Our team majorly consisted of first time hackers and this meant we had to research a lot and hit several dead ends throughout the hackathon.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our idea came out to be reality which is far more than we initially expected.
What we learned
Hacking is fun.
What's next for Spotibot
Machine learning algorithms can increase quality of suggestions.
