Inspiration
The inspiration for SPOT came from the difficulty students face in finding ideal study spots. We wanted to create a platform that allows students to easily compare and discover the best places to study based on key characteristics like noise levels and seating availability to name a few.
What it does
SPOT enables students to discover, compare, and share information about study spots around them. The app highlights important features of each location and fosters a community where students can communicate their experiences and recommendations.
How it was built
Research and Surveys: Conducted surveys to understand student needs and preferences. Design Process: Used design thinking to create wireframes and prototypes, progressing from low-fidelity sketches to high-fidelity designs. Usability Testing: Iteratively tested the app with users to gather feedback and improve the interface and features.
Challenges
User Interface Design: Ensuring the UI was intuitive and met the diverse needs of users. Balancing Features: Integrating features from similar apps while maintaining a unique and user-friendly experience. Technical Constraints: Addressing technical challenges related to implementing real-time data and interactive features.
What I learned
Importance of User Feedback: Continuous user feedback is crucial for developing an effective and user-friendly app. Effective Collaboration: Working closely with a team enhances creativity and problem-solving abilities. Iterative Design: Iterative design and testing lead to a more refined and successful product.
