Inspiration
I wanted to learn more about Python/Django. I love learning new technologies! I think personal blogs can sometimes become a little tedious to maintain, so I chose some subjects that I could easily write about.
How I built it
I built the application from the ground up, starting with one model containing one simple field and one template. There are plenty of great tutorials on Python/Django and Django's documentation is pretty thorough. As I gained a better understanding of how things flowed utilizing a true MVC paradigm, I added more models, and more complex features, including a custom admin page that makes adding new content as well as editing previous content a breeze.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I think learning how to use a new language and a new framework and getting something deployed in a few days of intermittent effort is grounds for celebration!
What's next for Sportz N' Grub
The layout could definitely use some TLC. I started the project more as an attempt to learn some new skills, so the look of the page was something I kind of had on the back burner. In my free time I'd like to address this. And definitely keep adding posts when inspiration hits.
