Inspiration
When we moved to the United States, we found it difficult to make friends. Some of the best friends we made were by playing common sports. So we decided to make a website that could help people making friends through sports.
What it does
Sportshood is a social web-application that provides users a platform to connect through specific sports in their desired location.
How we built it
We worked in a team of four people to build this application. The frontend of the web-app was done using React.js. For the backend, we decided to use SpringBoot as it is a framework that we were all eager to learn. MySQL was used as a database and Postman was used for testing purposes. We also used Google Cloud Platform for oauth2 authentication and to extract the list of cities.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge we faced in the development of this web app was to provide the best user experience.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the value this project would bring to the community especially after COVID-19 when it's very difficult to make friends.
What we learned
We learned to work efficiently in a team, and we also learned technologies such as React, Springboot, MySQL, Postman, and Styled-components
What's next for SportsHood
We are aiming to implement the chat feature for the web-app.
