Life Long Sports Fan

As a life long sports fan, I've always found it unnecessarily difficult to keep track of all the different games and events I'm interested in. From Formula 1 to Hockey, from MotoGP to football and everything in between.

Thats when I had the idea, what if everything was all in the same place, and I could check one app to find all of the dates and times of all the sports I was interested in.

What it does

It allows users to create their own custom sports schedule selecting from a large list of different sports, leagues. The app has day, week and monthly views, navigation back and forth, ability to hide past events, see game results and also easily find highlights by way of embedded YouTube videos, directly in the calendar view.

How we built it

I used bolt.new to build it all from scratch, connected to Supabase for backend and The SportsDB API for latest sporting data.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was getting Bolt.new to understand The Sports DB. However, I used Genspark to collate a list of all the API endpoints which I uploaded to Bolt as a CSV file. Once that was done it was quite straight forward and just needed some fine tuning.

There's still a lot of progress to be made, but this is version 1 which services the original need of the app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to research, find and connect a suitable API which could provide the app with all of the sporting data I needed, including, schedules, results and video highlights.

What we learned

I learned a lot about how to connect to APIs and to use third party data to build a successful, usable and indeed, useful app which has become my own daily check in go to.

What's next for Sporteo

Continue to improve the interface, design and brand. Add more sports to the already extensive list. Work on introducing Pro features through a monthly subscription.
