Inspiration
We were inspired by the simplicity of 90s web design after the launch of CSS, and the creativeness of the dot com bubble, to build a simple but solid web game, that would be fun and intuitive.
What it does
Its a simple web based pumpkin designer where you can share you designs and view other peoples
How we built it
We used JavaScript to create the main front end, and is the foundation for the pumpkin designer. We designed a normalised database using SQLite and used FastAPI and python for our back end.
Challenges we ran into
We faced a lot of trouble storing and managing session data as well as user session edge cases.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Proud of what we were able to create from our limited previous experience, hosting a well designed database.
What we learned
We learned a lot about FastAPI and general web design from front end to API design and database management
What's next for Carve-A-Pumpkin
We will most likely keep it as a fond memory, rather than continuing it further, however it has already given us some more ideas we will develop further with our newfound experience!
