Inspiration
The cookie robots from despicable me gave us the idea to make something that crawls. Then we saw " How I Made This Tiny Walking Robot From Scratch" by Dorian Todd and we knew that we wanted to create a spider.
What it does
The spooder bot 3000 is for causing distractions. Some people are afraid and/or robots so it can scare people as a distraction. Other people love spiders and/robots so the the will be distracted by it out of love. This can give thieves time to steal.
How we built it
We used a 3d printer to create the shell, a esp32 for the microcontroller, wires, servos, and screws. We used a similar design to the one in "How I Made This Tiny Walking Robot From Scratch", We made some adjustments to the design to better hold the battery, wires, and the esp32.
Challenges we ran into
The challenges we ran into were the 3d printers not working, one of our computers not working, and time. Some of us practically had to pull an all nighter to make sure everything gets printed on time which not everything did not get printed on it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The software worked practically on the first try. We used similar code to the video with minor tweaks due to having different wiring than the one showed in the video.
What we learned
Make sure our stuff works before competing in a 24 hour hackathon
What's next for Spooder bot 3000
We will probably reprint some components and rebuild Spooder bot 3000.
Built With
